Text messages from Orion

Last updated August 29, 2026

The program

Orion is a personal intelligence assistant operated by Eric Scott Walpert, doing business as Orion, in the United States. Orion reads the data sources you connect and writes you a single daily brief.

Text messaging is one optional way to receive that brief. It is off by default, it is never enabled for you, and it is not required to use Orion. The brief we text you is also in the app, so the text is a nudge rather than the only copy. The one thing we send that is not in the app is the verification code — showing it there would defeat the point of texting it.

This page describes the opt-in exactly as it appears inside the product. The opt-in itself lives in your account settings, because a person must be signed in before they can ask us to text them — so this page is where you can read the whole flow without an account.

How you opt in

Two steps, both taken by you, inside Settings → Brief at hi-orion.com. We never add a number on your behalf. US mobile numbers only.

1

Turn on the setting and enter your own mobile number

Nothing is sent until you type a number yourself and press Send code.

Text me my brief each morning

Send code

US mobile numbers. Up to one brief message per day, a reply when you text us (at most 20 a day), a verification code when you add or change your number, and — if you turn them on — up to 3 proactive reminders a day. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe, HELP for help. See our Terms and Privacy Policy.

2

Confirm the one-time code we text to that number

We text a 6-digit code and send nothing further until you enter it. This proves the number belongs to the person asking for the messages — consent is never taken from anyone but the phone's owner.

Enter the 6-digit code we texted you.

The verification message reads:

123456 is your Orion verification code. It expires in 10 minutes.

Once the code is confirmed, texting begins at your next scheduled brief — the same morning if your brief time has not passed yet, otherwise the following one. You can turn it off at any time, and turning the setting off stops the messages immediately.

What we send, and how often

  • ·A one-time verification code when you add or change your number.
  • ·If you enable it, one daily brief message — a short summary of your day with a link to the full brief.
  • ·A reply when you text us. You can text the number back with a question and Orion answers from your brief and your own notes. Every reply is a response to a message you sent, and there are at most 20 in a day, after which further texts go unanswered until the next day.
  • ·Proactive texts, only if you turn them on. Off by default. When enabled, Orion may message you first about something time-sensitive — a heads-up shortly before a meeting, or a reminder about something you asked it to chase. At most 3 a day, only between 8am and 9pm your local time, and never twice about the same thing. Turning the setting off stops them.
  • ·Message frequency: up to one brief message per day, plus a reply to each message you send us (20/day maximum), plus up to 3 proactive texts a day if you switch them on. Verification codes are additional and only happen when you ask for one — you can request at most 5 in a day, after which we refuse until the next day. A brief may arrive as up to 3 linked SMS segments if it is long, which your phone shows as a single message; a reply is at most 3. We do not send marketing, promotions, or anything you did not ask for.

A brief message looks like this:

Today at a glance Strong start to the week — sleep and readiness are both 95, resting HR at 51, nearly 9.5 hours of sleep. Weather in Brooklyn is clear, high of 81F. Calendar is front-loaded: three back-to-back meetings from 10am–noon, then a gap before a 1:30pm ops sync. One stale thread worth clearing. [Link to full brief]

How to stop, and how to get help

Reply STOP to any message to unsubscribe. You will get one confirmation and then nothing further. You can also switch off "Text me my brief each morning" in Settings, which has the same effect.

Any of these replies stops messages: STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL,END or QUIT. To start again, reply START and re-verify your number in Settings.

Reply HELP or INFO and you will get a reply telling you how to stop and that message and data rates may apply. You can also email privacy@hi-orion.com, which reaches a person.

Message and data rates may apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Your number

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Sharing with the subcontractor that delivers our messages is permitted solely so that we can send the messages you asked for. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third parties for any other purpose.

We do not buy, rent, or import phone numbers from any other source — the only way a number enters Orion is a signed-in person typing it in and confirming a code sent to it. We do not sell your number and we do not use it for advertising. It is deleted with the rest of your data if you delete your account.

Full detail is in our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
