Terms of Service

Last updated August 29, 2026

Agreement

By creating an account or using Orion, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. These terms form a binding agreement between you and Orion (“we,” “us,” or “our”).

The service

Orion is a personal intelligence assistant that reads your connected data sources and generates a daily brief. The service is currently in private beta. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time.

Access is by invitation only during the beta. We reserve the right to revoke access at our discretion.

Your account

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. You must be at least 16 years old to use Orion. You may not share your account or use it on behalf of others without our permission.

You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

Connected integrations

When you connect a third-party service (Gmail, Google Calendar, Strava, GitHub, Plaid, etc.), you authorize Orion to access that service on your behalf within the scopes you grant. You can revoke access at any time from Settings → Integrations.

Orion can make changes on your behalf, not just read. Within the scopes you grant, the assistant can create Gmail drafts, create, change and delete Google Calendar events, and create and complete Todoist tasks. It does this when you ask it to — including when you ask by text — and during the morning review, which runs automatically each day after your brief is generated and acts on the comments you left. Connecting a service authorizes those actions; disconnecting it in Settings → Integrations is how you withdraw that authorization.

We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or content of data from third-party services. Your use of those services remains subject to their own terms.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • ·Use Orion for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law
  • ·Attempt to access another user's account or data
  • ·Verify a mobile number you do not own, or opt anyone else in to text messages
  • ·Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the service
  • ·Use the service in a way that could damage, disable, or impair it
  • ·Resell or sublicense access to the service

Text messages (SMS)

Orion can text you your daily brief, and can answer questions you text to it. Texting is optional, off by default, and never required to use Orion.

You opt in inside Settings by entering your own US mobile number and confirming a one-time code we text to it. We send nothing further until that code is confirmed. You may only verify a number that belongs to you. The full flow is described on our messaging page.

Message frequency: up to one brief message per day, plus a reply to each message you send us (at most 20 replies per day), plus a verification code when you add or change your number (at most 5 per day). If you switch on proactive texts, up to 3 more per day. Message and data rates may apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Replies are generated by an AI assistant with access to your Orion data, and are subject to the same beta disclaimer as the rest of the service. We only answer a number that is verified against an account; a text from any other number gets no reply.

Proactive texts are separate, and off unless you turn them on. Every other message either answers something you sent or is the brief you scheduled. If you enable proactive texts, Orion may also message you first — a heads-up before a meeting, or a reminder of something you asked it to chase — during waking hours only and never more than 3 a day. You can turn them off again in Settings, and STOP still stops everything.

Reply STOP to any message to unsubscribe, or turn the setting off in Settings. Reply HELP for help. How we handle your number is described in our Privacy Policy; in short, no mobile information is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

Your content

You own the notes, wiki entries, and other content you create in Orion. By using the service, you grant us a limited license to store and process your content solely to provide the service to you.

We do not claim ownership of your content and will not use it for any purpose beyond operating and improving Orion for you.

Pages you share are public. Creating a share link makes that page readable by anyone who has the link, with no account required, and the link does not expire. You are responsible for what you publish this way — including anyone else's information that appears on the page — and for who you give the link to. Anonymous visitors can comment on a shared page under a name they choose; we do not verify it.

Beta disclaimer

Orion is in private beta. The service is provided as-is, without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uptime, accuracy of briefs, or that the service will meet your expectations. Brief content, assistant answers, and replies to your texts are AI-generated and may contain errors — do not rely on them for financial, medical, legal, or other high-stakes decisions without independent verification.

This applies to actions as well as text. The assistant can change things in your connected accounts, and an AI system can act on a mistaken reading of your instruction — sending the wrong draft, or changing or deleting the wrong calendar event. Review what it does, and keep your own backups of anything you cannot afford to lose.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Orion will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service — including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or damages arising from AI-generated content.

Our total liability to you for any claim will not exceed the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.

Termination

You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Account. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms or for any other reason with reasonable notice.

Upon termination, your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you by email or in-app notice before material changes take effect. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of New York County, New York.

Who operates Orion

Orion is a service operated by Eric Scott Walpert, doing business as Orion, in the United States. "Orion", "we" and "us" in these terms refer to that operator.
