Orion vs Gemini in Gmail

Gemini's Daily Brief is the closest thing to Orion from a big company: a morning overview of your priorities, inside Google. The difference is reach. Gemini's brief draws on Gmail, Calendar and your Gemini chats; Orion's draws on Gmail and Calendar plus your money, sleep, workouts, code, tasks and notes, and you can text it from your own US number once it is verified.

Side by side

Everything in the Gemini in Gmail column is taken from their own public pages as of October 2026. Products change; check theirs before you decide. Where they publish nothing about something, this says so rather than guessing.

When Gemini in Gmail is the better choice

If your life is already in Gmail and Google Calendar, Gemini is there with no new account: thread summaries, Help me write, AI Overviews over your mail and voice questions about it, and basic features are free on a personal account. For a business, Google Workspace carries certifications Orion does not have: SOC 1/2/3, ISO 27001 and FedRAMP High. And if Gmail and Calendar are all you would want briefed, Gemini's Daily Brief may be all you need.

What Orion is for

One person's whole life in one place: email, calendar, finances, health, side projects and notes, read overnight and synthesized into a single morning brief. You can text it a question and it answers from your actual data — and it acts, drafting the reply, booking the event, closing the task. It is not a team workspace, and it is not trying to become one.

The details are on the homepage, and how it handles your data is on the security page. Orion is in private beta; join the waitlist and you are let in roughly in order.
